[edit] Typo?
"... after 1887 the city's economy experienced accelerated growth. The growth was interrupted by yellow fever outbreaks in the 1790s". "after 1887", then "was interrupted in 1790s"?
"Once the American Civil War began in 1860"? began in 1860 or 1861?

[edit] Successful good article nomination
I am glad to say that this article which was nominated for good article status has succeeded. This is how the article, as of July 12, 2007, compares against the six good article criteria:
- 1. Well written?: definently. It is detialled and informative where necessary
- 2. Factually accurate?: well sourced, except for the introduction
- 3. Broad in coverage?: yes
- 4. Neutral point of view?: yes
- 5. Article stability? seems to be at this time
- 6. Images?: yes, could use more, but overall there are images where there should be.
If you feel that this review is in error, feel free to take it to a GA review. Thank you to all of the editors who worked hard to bring it to this status. — SefringleTalk 07:59, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] GA Sweeps Review: Pass
As part of the WikiProject Good Articles, we're doing sweeps to go over all of the current GAs and see if they still meet the GA criteria. I'm specifically going over all of the "World History-Americas" articles. I believe the article currently meets the criteria and should remain listed as a Good article. I have made minor corrections and have included several points below that would benefit from an inline citation.
- "Shortly after receiving the charter, Penn said he would lay out "a large Towne or Citty in the most Convenient place upon the [Delaware] River for health & Navigation." This quote needs an inline citation directly after the statement.
- "Along with the city's "dullness" Philadelphia was known for its corruption. The Republican controlled political machine, run by Israel Durham, permeated all parts of city government. One official estimated that US$5 million was wasted every year from graft in the city's infrastructure programs" It would be beneficial to add another inline citation directly after these statements.
Altogether the article is well-written and is still in great shape after its passing in July. Continue to improve the article making sure all new information is properly sourced and neutral. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. I have updated the article history to reflect this review. --Nehrams2020 (talk) 01:59, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- The "large Towne or Citty" quote is via Weigley 1982:4. His endnote cites a Dunn and Dunn, eds., The Papers of William Penn, 1680-1684, p. 98. I added an inline citation as simply Weigley 1982:4. The citation system in this article (although perfectly nice enough) probably currently is not quite up to the level of citing through Weigley 1982 back to its endnotes in each case where the thing that we're citing him on, he cited someone else on. That is, this article in these cases probably just cites Weigley 1982 without reference to his source. That is something that I won't have time to go about improving, but I invite anyone else to do so. For now I have at least cited where this article got the "large Towne or Citty" quote. — ¾-10 04:18, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
