Talk:History of Novi Sad

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Citizens of all nationalities - Serbs, Hungarians, Slovaks and others fought together against the Axis authorities.

This is propagandistic. Maybe some Hungarians and Slovaks fought but their majority supported the Hungarian authorities. --Koppany 09:59, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

Wrong - there were many Hungarians and Slovaks in Vojvodina who were partisans. The only ethnic group that did not participated in liberation struggle in large number are Germans. [edit] Bács-Bodrog or Backa-Bodrog

When this county existed it was called Bács-Bodrog, when Novi Sad (Újvidék) passed to the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes Bács-Bodrog county itself ceased to exist, therefor there is no reason the use its Serbian name, though the use of Backa-Bodrog may be adequate in Serbian Wiki. --Koppany 12:44, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

Actually, during the Austro-Hungarian administration Vojvodina was a bilingual area and names of cities and counties existed in the several languages. However, we speak here about this county in the year 1860 when official language in the country was Latin and therefore I do not see valid reason to have name written in Hungarian. Between 1849-1860 the official language was German, from 1860 the Hungarian became official language again. --Koppany 18:24, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

I believe it was in 1867, not in 1860. PANONIAN If you want peace and prosperity for your country then you are a patriot, but if your patriotism is bigger than the borders of your country then you are a serious threat to World peace. 20:57, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Police or Gendarmerie

The persons who committed atrocities against Serbs and Jews were members of the Hungarian Royal Gendarmerie (Magyar Királyi Csendőrség) and not of the Police. --Koppany 12:46, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

What ever... PANONIAN If you want peace and prosperity for your country then you are a patriot, but if your patriotism is bigger than the borders of your country then you are a serious threat to World peace. 16:27, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
