[edit] Fisher and Dubois

I question including Vardis Fisher and Fred Dubois as part of the Mormon community in southeastern Idaho, considering Fisher left the LDS church and became and atheist, and that Dubois was a noted anti-Mormon politician. --Faustus37 16:09, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

I removed the individuals listed and used a reference to the article List of people from Idaho. The individuals can be annotated in that article rather than included in a general history article. (Just my not humble opinion. ) --Robbie Giles 03:12, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] A new topic" Mormon Community in Southeastern Idaho"?

"Dubois" was a US Marshall, a Congressional Delegate representing the Idaho Territory, and a US Senator. Each position required that he uphold the laws of the US, including those prohibiting polygamy or polygyny. Did that make him a anti-Mormon politician from the Mormon Settlements?

"Fisher" was born & raised in Rigby, married a girl from Ririe, and spent considerable time writing while living on a ranch at Antelope Flats. Was he a product of his Southeastern Idaho environment in a Mormon Settlement?

"Hunter", certainly a remarkable man, was from Boise. Is Boise located in Southeastern Idaho? Is Boise a Mormon Settlement?Tinosa 02:08, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

I removed the individuals listed and used a reference to the article List of people from Idaho. No, Boise is considered to be in Southern Idaho. I will try to find a survey of religious demographics if it exists. --Robbie Giles 03:12, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] To Do

Verify the following:

  • The state is known for its hospitality to all known as the "Idahoan Way". (removed from Settlement section)
  • Get citations for all settlers
  • Black History Museum URL is not working
  • 2000 census for ethnic group demography in ID
  • Religious demographics from a reliable source

You might start here: (Immigration & Emigration) http://imnh.isu.edu/digitalatlas/geog/imem/imemfr.htm

I fixed the Black History Museum URL (http://www.ibhm.org/). I was also wondering if it would be possible to add some aspects of Idaho's role in WWII to the history. Luminece 18:05, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fur trade

Two words on the fur trade? Oh, my. See: [2] Please also look over my recent stub on Pierre's Hole. Working on sourcing. Comments welcome. WBardwin (talk) 08:49, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Mining in Idaho material

There is useful looking material describing mining regions in Idaho and so on, which could be incorporated into the Mining in Idaho section of this article, that is currently in an article Mining in Idaho. That article, however, is tagged for copyright violation (perhaps only for other material in it), and may be deleted in one week's time. Your chance is now.... doncram (talk) 19:53, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

i have pasted in some stuff about mining regions in Idaho, etc. Unfortunately, there is no source in the Mining in Idaho article for this material. doncram (talk) 22:18, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Sources for editors

Following material cut from the article, seems appropriate on Talk page instead: "The Idaho State Historical Society is responsible for preserving Idaho's history and cultural heritage with hundreds of thousands of primary sources relating to the history of Idaho.

[edit] Who wrote this a 12 year old?

The reasoning is absolutely confounding Actually I suspect it was a 35-50 year old housewife attending a history class at BSU. Probably a local and definitely insecure. She demonstrates that unique (and nauseating) "I'm from here but I'm not a hick like everyone else" quality. Reality check people! Boise (and Idaho) is popular because it's quiet, safe and the population is homogenous! NOBODY moves to Idaho because of it's diversity! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Spandix1 (talkcontribs) 00:31, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
