Isn't the OAU now defunct, replaced with the African Union? -- April

Yes

[edit] Bias suggested

This article is biased, really in how it is written more than in what has been written. The history-- for example of the period immediately after independence-- seems to be demonstrate a lack of consideration of the events, a lack of thoughtfulness in its style. Rather than explaining France's involvement in the coups d'etat, for example, it simply states that France was behind them. We need facts, not assertions. -ALC

  • I have added some words in the text about France's involvement. I don't think that "lack of consideration of the events, a lack of thoughtfulness in its style." makes an article NPOV. Also, the writer ALC does not tell what events should be considered, nor does he tell how the style should/can be changed. Furthermore, it is extremely difficult to proof France's involvement in the coups, but it is more then likely that they were involved, giving there interests in the region (businesses, French settlers, the strategic location), the involvement of French mercenaries, their status as former colonizer of the Comoros and their political/military involvement in other regions in the same time.

Perhaps there is bias, I can't really tell, but it's written in a spirited way 'playing musical sultans' that while perhaps not being entirely proffessional is quite endearing and enjoyable to read. Personally, I like the article. Phileosophian 22:16, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
