Since no one has edited this page before, and the cleanup flag has been here for nearly a year, i guess no one much comes here. The article seems a little dry, but in view of the tag at the foot that text has come from a 1911 encyclopedia, I'm not surprised. This style was probably all the fashion then.

It needs a more modern take on some of its history. Possibly something more has happened since 1911, a couple more wars, perhaps?Sandpiper 02:25, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
