This is a work in progress, maybe it was a mistake to add it before I had finished the text (I feared someone might start before me) but this is an unfinished product, the "development" section is still just a rough draft. Diceman 18:49, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)

It's a fantastic piece of work, and I commend you for it. I wouldn't worry if it's not completely finished; so long as what is published on the page is understandable. Again, I'm really impressed.--Cyberjunkie 09:53, 16 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Yeah, great work. The whole wiki is a work in progress though, we must remember :p Kent 18:01, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)
I'm pretty much done with it for now so feel free to expand it in any way you see fit (eg. Dunstan era). - Diceman 15:10, 25 August 2005 (UTC)
I removed the generalised section discussing aboriginal settlement (1st paragraph, as I felt it was clearly not pertinant enough to be included in an article that is specifically about Adelaide. I may have been too brash, but I think it improves the reading of the article. SauliH 13:38, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Kaurna population

Is the estimate of only 300 Kaurna in 1836 accurate? I can find several references to 650 Kaurna in 1842 South Australian Register, which also seems a remarkably small number to me. Do we know how many there are now, or is this not counted? --Scott Davis Talk 00:56, 29 August 2005 (UTC)

I will ask somebody who might know. It does seem small, probably difficult to measure by the authorities at the time though. --Lisa 01:38, 29 August 2005 (UTC)
How big an area is the Adelaide Plains? Was the mention of 650 you saw taking in a larger area? - Diceman 13:50, 29 August 2005 (UTC)
The Kaurna area generally went from Cape Jervis to Port Wakefield between the coast and the Adelaide Hills. The Adelaide Plains starts at about McLaren Vale, and extends just as far north. I'd have expected a viable population to have been more like 3000 than 300. --Scott Davis Talk 14:48, 29 August 2005 (UTC)
If you read the estimated numbers see "Kudnarto", in 1841 the population estimate was around 650SauliH 13:34, 3 November 2005 (UTC)
