Does the use of the past tense indicate that this species is now extinct? Milkfish 01:31, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Looking at the linked article I take it that it is in fact gone. (Though I'm wondering whether there are any species of rat which are actually inedible.) Milkfish 01:38, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
