I don't think Columbus' "finding" is ever mentioned. "Hispanic Day" is a relatively new term. Most peopel call the day "el Día del Pilar". El Pilar being the patroness of Spain. Any citations there? Someone brought this up at Public holidays in Spain and I did some cursory research -- which confirmed Columbus as being the central figure (main celebration at Plaza de Colon). Granted, my source was a couple Web sites and the Spanish Wikipedia.
