Leeds City Vixens was started in 1993[1] by Martin Cockerill and his children. At first it was called Meanwood Vixens but it grew into what is now known as Leeds City Vixens. Immediately the team made a name for itself and grew, going through the Sheffield and District Girl’s League, winning the u12’s, u14’s and u16’s .[2]

[edit] Yorkshire and Humberside league

Leeds City Vixens open age played in the Yorkshire & Humberside League. In the season 1999/00 they finished 2nd with 51 points. 2000/01 they got 41 points ad finished 5th. 2001/02 they finished 10th with 16 poits League 2002/03 they finished 5th with 27 points they got promoted that season.

They started playing in the Northern Combination League for the 2003/2004 season. A bad finish left them 10th at the end of the season and they were relegated back down.[3]

At the end of the 2004/2005 season however, they finished top of the Yorkshire & Humberside League which brought them back up to the Northern Combination[4].

In the 2005/06 season they finished 2ndafter a good season. They lost to league rivals Preston five games before the end of the season 2-1[5]. It was there last game lost in that season City Vixens and Preston looked like they could win the league. In the 2006/2007 season they finished 2nd and came close to promotion. It is the second year running they almost made promotion. In the season they won 15 games drew 4 games and lost 2 games [6].

The 2007/08 season changed where the team play. They now play at the same ground as Yorkshire Amateur A.F.C. because the old ground was not the right size. That rule was later changed but the Vixens will stay at Bracken Edge. The Vixens lost their first three games in the league to Curzon Ashton 7-2.[7] On 19 August, Caernarfon Town 2-3.[8]. on 26 August and Middlesbrough 5-2.[7] [9] on 2 September, but won their fourth game against Hull City 7-1.[7]. on 9 September. On 16 September Vixens played their fifth game away to Peterlee Town W.F.C they lost the game 3-1.[7]. They won there sixth game 5-1 against Scunthorpe at The Braken Edge Sunthorpe went 1-0 up then before half time vixens equalized and scored 4 goals in the second half.[10] The vixens played Stretford Victoria on 30 September.[11] The vixens won 6-0[12] there first clean sheet of the season.[13]. On 7 October they played there eighth game against West Auckland the final score was 2-2.[14] On 14 October 2007 the Vixens beet Bradford City 5-3 away from home.[15]. They drew 1-1 with Chester City on 21 October 2007.[16]. They beet Rochdale 3-1 away on 4 November.[17]. On 11 November they beat Bradfordy City 2-1 at home[18]. On 9 December 2007 they beet Hull City away 5-1.[19]. They are currently 3rd in the league with 23 points.[20] They have won 7 games drawn 2 and lost 4.[21]. In the F.A. women's cup they were knocked out in the first round losing 2-1 to Rochdale.[22]
