Historical Society of Pennsylvania is an historical library and archive founded in Philadelphia in 1824. Today, the Society houses over 19 million manuscript and graphic items and features one of the largest family history libraries in the nation. It also offers major collections on Pennsylvania and regional history and manuscript collections with a strong focus on the 17th through 19th-centuries. The addition of holdings from The Balch Institute for Ethnic Studies has added significant documentation and study of ethnic communities and immigrant experiences between the late 19th century and today.
