Talk:Hip precautions

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I've recently undergone a total right hip replacement. The most valuable information I've gotten is not from the surgeon directly, but from others who have gone through rehabilitation already. I am curious how the standard hip precautions effect sexual intercourse. I will take this subject up with my surgeon in my 6 week followup exam at the end of Sept 2007. I am a female in her mid 50s.

The biggest question is about precautions regarding the sideways spreading apart of the legs. I have received no information about this type of movement, everything is related to the twisting inwards, or pigeon toe precaution, or the forward bend past 90degrees.

If anyone has any relevant serious information regarding this topic, please post.

I'll post the information I get from my surgeon in any event since I'm certain this life issue effects anyone who has undergone this type of surgery.

  • As the discussion page is really supposed to be about the article itself, I posted a reply on your own talk page. However, now that you mention it, it may be a good idea to include in the article how various activities of daily living are affected by having these hip precautions, such as putting on socks (using a sock-aid/reacher, etc.) --aishel 22:45, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
