Please do not delete. The rating from The Source was 4 mics, it was published. I dont know if you can look at the rating online but is a fact and verifiable.--198.110.72.130 13:51, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Articles for Deletion debate
This article survived an Articles for Deletion debate. The discussion can be found here. -Splashtalk 23:18, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
Deleted the production section, already enough is known who is going to produce individual songs. Poorly written as well.
[edit] reason for censored "hip hop is dead" track?
Why on the original version of this song, the lyrics "extended clip into my AK" and "murder the DJ" get changed to what they are on the album release, specifically "body em all day" and "wreck the DJ"?

look at the discussion for the single.
[edit] Protection
I'm seriously thinking of protecting this page from new users. This is getting too annoying with adding and removing information without any sources. --Zimbabweed 04:12, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] USE SOURCES!!
If your are going to add information, you MUST cite your source. All these tracks that are suppossedly confirmed have no sources. And now somebody put a November release date? What is your source!?!? I think people who add information without citing to this article should be blocked. --Jaysscholar 15:33, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
I think you should be blocked.--Samil20 17:08, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
According to MTV and Def Jam Nas is scheduled to release on November--198.110.72.130 17:07, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
- I couldn't find that on there websites. Do you have a link? --Jaysscholar 23:06, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
Most of this article should be removed and cleaned up. It sounds more like a forum post than an encyclopedic source. "Not on Kingdom Come but right chea"? Come on.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.37.138.228 (talk • contribs)
- I've added sources where applicable and deleted unsourced material. --Zimbabweed 18:52, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
No source for tracklist, Im deleting it. --Samil20 13:17, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Time for a change?
It seems almost all recent news articles are citing the name as Hip-Hop Is Dead...The N. Does anyone else think a move is needed? --Zimbabweed 05:11, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
Defo, plus 50's come out with a mixtape called Hip-Hop Is Dead, so it may cause confusion. -Mittens
Okay, wait, what? I know this isn't a place for discussion, but it had to be said. What is 50 doing coming out with an album like that. His rapping skills are horrible (listen to "I get Money" if you don't believe me, it's all 10 lines in all and hooks) and he has the audacity to say that hip hop is dead? He's part of the decline
not a forum etc spare meEAB 00:03, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] "Hip-Hop Is Dead... The 'N'" as opposed to "Hip-Hop Is Dead"
Due to the lack of action taken on this page, I have changed all incorrect references from "Hip-Hop Is Dead" to "Hip-Hop Is Dead... The 'N'". I shall also add the sources to all confirmed tracks. The page that formerly belonged to this album should, in my opinion, be deleted, changed to details of the 50 Cent mixtape, or kept in reserve for the upcoming single "Hip-Hop Is Dead" (which Nas has confirmed, I will now hunt down the source). If you have a problem with it, don't share it, because it's inevitable it would've had to change anyway.
- Mittens
- 'Carry on Tradition' and 'Where Are They Now' are two confirm tracks by Nas himself, I provided the source
Please do not delete the tracklist, or any tracks, these have all been confirmed tracks for Hip-Hop Is Dead...The N. The sources are provided.--Samil20 13:36, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
Album's coming out December 5th, MTV says it in that last article they posted about Nas.
- Some sources say Dec. 19th while other sources state Dec. 5th, I dont think Def Jam has settled on an 'Official' date betweent the two. --Samil20 18:52, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
- Either way, someone should not just change it from Dec 19 to Dec 5, while leaving the same source in the article that only says Dec 19. --Zimbabweed 18:54, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
Fader and XXL have confirmed the tracks that I posted and were deleted by some user. DO NOT DELETE these tracks have been confirmed and I have posted the sources. --Samil20 18:55, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
- If you're referring to http://xxlmag.com/online/?p=5224, then the only songs I see mentioned there are "Unforgettable" and "Let Me In The Light." Where are the others? And I deleted your Fader "confirmed tracks" because blogs are not acceptable sources for wikipedia, see WP:RS. If no other "source" refers to these songs, they must be deleted. --Zimbabweed 19:09, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
- Once again Fader is a magazine not a blog here is the link ONCE AGAIN http://www.thefader.com/blog/articles/2006/10/12/rebirth Do you still want to disagree?--Samil20 12:05, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

This link confirms:
- L.E.S. produces his collaboration with Jay-Z. No name is given though.
- Let Me In The Light is produced by Kanye West, although it does stress that the author isn't 100% sure of the track's title.
- It confirms that Will.I.Am produces Unforgettable.
This is just for anyone who complains about the lack of references. I know for a fact I've read articles confirming all the tracks that are on the main article, it's just taking some time hunting them down.
This source: http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/news/id.4632/title.nas-hip-hop-is-dead-the-n-tracklisting
And this source: http://rap.about.com/od/reviews/fr/NasHipHopIsDead.htm
Are two completely different tracklists of the same album. I think it's safe to say that no list is really credible at this point, and that the tracklist should be deleted until the album comes out or Nas confirms the entire thing (and even then he's gone back and forth a time or two).
- Mittens
Actually, if you look at the cover credits, they read that Black Republican was produced by L.E.S. and Wyldfyer. Sources are saying that Wyldfyer actually did the beat itself. Sure doesn't sound like anything L.E.S. has ever done. Does anyone have any info on Wyldfyer? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.13.238.2 (talk • contribs)
[edit] Album Name
The Name of the album is Hip Hop Is Dead. Not Hip Hop Is Dead? or Hip Hop Is Dead...The N. It is confirmed on Def Jam under Nas's name.
- Actually on Def Jam "Hip Hop Is Dead" is for his single not the name of the album. --Samil20 12:47, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
- And for his Ad in Def Jam, it reads: Hip Hop Is Dead The N December 19th--198.110.74.147 15:22, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Track w/ Kelis - Sampled?
That piano in the track (at least the beginning part of it) w/ Kelis sure sounds like a sample of an 80s song.. but I can't quite put my finger on it. Can anyone put a finger on that? 65.36.223.18 17:02, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] samples..
could someone add some sound clips to show the similar sounds in theifs theme, and hiphop is dead, and iron butterfly's ... song —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.38.91.118 (talk) 01:03, 17 December 2006 (UTC).
[edit] Reason For Name
I can confirm this: Nas said on a Rolling Stones magazine interview that he was inspired for the name by his wife (R&B singer Kelis) who would come home and say that R&B was dead. I'm not sure why its called ... The N though. --NJ Rock 05:04, 17 December 2006 (UTC)NJ Rock
Bak, here's a quote from it, "It's beyond hip-hop. Music is dead. My wife say's to me, 'R&B is dead.' She's inspired me more than anyone to write this record Hip Hop Is Dead."
[edit] Best Buy Bonus Track
No such thing. Where ya'll at isn't on it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.117.100.197 (talk) 05:14, 8 January 2007 (UTC).
[edit] Music video for Hip Hop is Dead, connection to the album
I think this CD could tell a plot. At the beggining of the video it says "A new law has been passed today by the US Government. Hip-Hop has been abolished and is no longer to be heard. All claiming the title MC will be arrested, and given the worst penalty under the law..........Hip Hop is Dead" Could that be the basis for all the songs on the CD? Just a thought. [edit] Time
There's a song called Time which is said to be produced by Dr. Dre and i heard it was meant to be on this album. Is that true or was it released somewhere else. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.89.16.233 (talk) 05:50, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
