While New International Encyclopedia states that he wrote a book in 1865, that may be a misprint. The Land of Gold may have been written in 1855. GhostofSuperslum 15:05, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] "Prospect of Class Divisions" ?
Quote from the article: "Nonetheless the mere prospect of class divisions within the white community was enough to lead many Southerners who had previously been opponents of secession to embrace it after the election of Abraham Lincoln." I am uncertain what this means, but, after several readings of the paragraph, get the impression it is mis-written. Can anybody clarify this? What is being said?
