[edit] Matt Gadsby in Memorial

The secondary piece of this section is highly relevant to Hinckley United and the Gadsby family both for the History of the club and a demonstration of how the football community as a whole comes together. I would like to believe that me and my daughter did not witness a man die on a football pitch for no reason at all, and the messages of support on the memorial page keep my belief. This piece firstly demonstrates what the football community can achieve and secondly introduces the link to the memorial page.

It has been deleted in the past by mattythewhite stating that it is not needed and copies the text in the link provided. True that the text is copied from within the memorial page, but is merely a small snippet of the page and merely summarises the events in order to introduce the link.

What happened in the aftermath of Matt Gadsby's death is as important to Hinckley United as his death itself, and I don't see how one person can simply dismiss this as unneccessary. DJhinckley (talk) 17:41, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

I stated the "remembered always" comment on the image was unneeded, not the text itself. And copyright violations have to be avoided, so the text will need a good rewrite. Mattythewhite (talk) 18:56, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

How can a piece of text I personally wrote for the Hinckley United Independent website, and then I copied to this article for use as a summary be infringing copyright? This is what I meant in other discussions describing you as a robot, you seem to be not thinking of what you are doing and merely citing 'guidlines'. Will 'Little Britain' come back with a new character Wiki Says No? The 'remembered always' comment is possibly not necessary, but as you claim you are a human and not a robot even you couldn't argue that it is not a nice personal touch and whilst not strictly needed does no harm to be there. Do you not remember Dave Longhurst? I know you are only in your teens, but shirley you know why York City have a stand named after him? DJhinckley (talk) 19:33, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

"Wiki Says No"? Lol. WP:COPYVIO is there so Wikipedia's arse isn't sued, not so I can be a "robot blah blah blah." Mattythewhite (talk) 19:43, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Being as you've posted the link more than once, I assume you've actually read WP:COPYVIO. Therefore I assume you are fully aware of this extract from the fourth paragraph: For example, if the contributor was in fact the author of the text that is published elsewhere under different terms, that does not affect their right to post it here under the GFDL. You are also fully aware that I am the author of the Hinckley United Independent site from other discussions today on other articles. So when you infact posted above that there was a copyright infringement, you knew that actually the text in the article was put there by the author of that text, and so no copyright infringement. You were just trying to be clever, then citing 'guidlines' proving indeed that you are an unthinking robot. DJhinckley (talk) 20:10, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

You also did not address the second part of my comment. What is the harm of having remembered always on the image? prove to me that you are human? DJhinckley (talk) 20:12, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

I got it wrong with the copyright. Soz. "remembered always" isn't very encyclopedic, is it? Does it matter he will be "remembered always"? By whom will he be "remembered always"? It's quite irrelevant to an encyclopedia. Besides, this page isn't a memorial.
And in response to this little bitch session, I think you quite simply need to learn some respect and stop being a dick. Oops, another Wikipedia guideline, am I in for another bitching? Quite simply, if you don't like Wikipedia's guidelines and rules, then learn to like it or lump it. "Ripping up hard work"? Boo hoo, quite simply. Get another hobby if you don't bother learning how this place works. "Rant over". Mattythewhite (talk) 20:43, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
Anyway, I think we all need to cool down now. We can't really pose arguments when we're all fired up like this. Mattythewhite (talk) 21:02, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Lost your cool have you young un. I knew you'd have his userpage on your watch list. Worked a treat that did, got you to show your true colours. As I said before, control freak and nothing but that. There is a reason why you are in the top 100 for edits made. You are obsessed. You are in your teens and should be out having fun with your mates, yet sit in front of the PC all day editing stuff on here. I'd say you have no mates considering the time you dedicate to this, and it's not hard to guess why. Dick? Bitching? How very American of you, however, you're never going to get me to bite, but feel free to keep trying. Add some clever insults and I may even rate them out of 10 for you. DJhinckley (talk) 21:33, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

I've certainly seen your true colours just now. Clearly you're not here to actually contribute to this website, so there's no point in wasting my time with you. Considering you clearly have a family and other things to do, I'd have thought you'd be doing something better with your time really. Mattythewhite (talk) 21:37, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

That's not clever at all 1/10. DJhinckley (talk) 21:40, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Get a hobby, mate. Mattythewhite (talk) 21:41, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

I'm not your mate, I don't think anyone is are they? I thought you weren't bothering anymore?0.7/10 DJhinckley (talk) 21:45, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Really do need to get a hobby. (I'm not insulting you, just giving some advice (seriously)). Mattythewhite (talk) 21:48, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

You've got to make your mind up? You can't say I'm not worth wasting your time and then carry it on. Either I am worth wasting your time or I'm not? Make your decision and stick to it. DJhinckley (talk) 21:55, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

I know, but it is so hard to not help my fellow man! Mattythewhite (talk) 21:57, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

So now we've established that I am worth wasting your time on, that's a start. Now if you were truly intent on helping a fellow man then prove it by not having an iron rod up your arse when considering Wiki guidlines. By all means create your own articles within the guidlines, but why do you feel it is your mission to actively seek out and delete those which may not be? Does it give you sense of power that would otherwise not be available to teenager such as yourself? DJhinckley (talk) 22:03, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] player lists

for whoever keeps adding Owen Powers, he is not even a real person let alone a football player. It is a fans 'in joke' at the club, please don't keep adding him to the player list. DJhinckley 15:17, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] founded date

Hinckley Athletic were founded in 1889 not Hinckley United. Surely the founded date is only relevant to Hinckley United else why not have Hinckley Town's founded date also? DJhinckley 15:17, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Merge stadium article

Not sure there's much point in having a separate article for Marston's Stadium just yet..can always be split off if/when there's enough verifiable info. Paulbrock 13:52, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Dear Paul, I see you are suggesting trying to merge all venues of non league teams in with their main articles. So what exactly is the point of having a sporting venues section on wiki. Why are non league teams not good enough for you? The Marston Stadium is a Registered Football Stadium of 4300 capacity and has even staged International Youth matches, plus used by England's U19's for training. Just exaclty how does that not qualify for a Sporting Venue in England?

from further research I have discovered that AFC Telford, Boston, Nuneaton and Tamworth have no plans to merge their grounds in with their articles. So what is your criteria for making a decion to merge other than ignorance of the clubs involved?

perhaps as your user page explains you are a supporter of Manchester United living in London, it could explain your ignorance of anything below the Premiership, and admitting to being new to wiki in april 2007 it's probably not the most sensible thing as your first act to go round all the non league clubs suggesting they have their grounds removed from the Sporting Venues section. Wiki is for information to share, not for a newbie to suggest it gets tucked away somewhere because it doesn't fit in with his lofty views.

[edit] Marstons Stadium

I think you should keep a seperate section for the marstons stadium so you can fit more info on!

[edit] Assessment

It needs a few references before it can become B-class. It also needs a bigger WP:LEAD. The lead should summarise the contents of the article in a couple of paragraphs. I think the history section needs expanding as well. All in all though, it is a very good start. Woodym555 12:43, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

I deliberately kept the lead short so that the Contents box and the Infobox would end in roughly the same place of the page. More aesthetically pleasing than having a big gap of white space. I will see if I can re-write it somehow to expand but not use too much space. DJhinckley 20:27, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

It's incrediably hard to reference anything considered low importance as there just isn't the internet interest for it from reliable sources. Most references tend to be BBC Sport, but they hardly ever care about teams at Conference North level. Local media will cover the club, but their websites save space and constantly change url's of articles sometimes disappearing altogether after a few months. DJhinckley 20:27, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

I would love to expand the History section but the club are only 10 years old and we haven't got a lot of it. History that is. I didn't want the History to develop into a match by match detail, as other Football History pages have had that criticism of them. I'll see if I can summarise each season without going over the top. DJhinckley 20:27, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Finally, I was just basing my claim to a 'B' class comparing it to other articles from the Conference North with a B, for example Kettering Town F.C. or A.F.C. Telford United. DJhinckley 20:27, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Hinckleyunitedcrest.png

Image:Hinckleyunitedcrest.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

fair use rationale issue addressed by adding article name to the fair use rationale already on the image description page. I believe this now complies with WP:NFCC#10c you people really are too fussy sometimes.DJhinckley 14:29, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
