Hint is musician Jonathan James (born 1981), hailing from Sussex in the UK.
Hint's music is at the more chilled-out, downtempo end of the Ninja Tune roster. Several tracks feature looped acoustic guitar and keyboard sounds and his style has been termed "ruralbeat".
Shortly after the release of his debut EP, Hint was invited to record a Peel Session at the BBC's Maida Vale Studios, which was broadcast in May 2002.
When Hint played live in 2006, he was joined on stage by Bonobo on bass and Minotaur Shock on drums, the trio performing under the banner "The Hint Touring Band". Both artists also contributed remixes to Hint's track "Count Your Blessings".[1]
Since 2006, Hint has performed DJ tours in Japan and Russia, had a monthly DJ slot on Groovetech internet radio and a residency at Bristol's respected Seen club night, where he supported the likes of Carl Craig, Bugz in the Attic and Jazzanova.[2]
A comic strip loosely based on James' lifestyle was serialised in Japanese magazine, Plus 81.[3]

[edit] Discography
Hint's debut release, The Beau Selectah EP was released on the Deep Water Recordings label, based in Leicester. Subsequent EPs and his debut album, Portakabin Fever, were released by Bristol-based independent record label Hombré Recordings, in association with Ninja Tune.[3] After a break from releasing records, he returned in 2005 with The Tremmuh EP, on Tru Thoughts.
The album Portakabin Fever was so called because it was recorded in a mobile home by James using his computer, guitar, bass and keyboards.
