Hindustan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (HSMC) is a planned semiconductor foundry near the city of Hyderabad in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

[edit] Product Focus
HSMC’s focus will be on System On Chip (SoC) for products like mobile phones, wired line telecom products like broadband, sim cards, ID cards, set top boxes and automotive chip sets.

The fabrication unit's construction is supposed to start in 2007. The initial investment expected in HSMC is USD 1 billion which may be scaled up as the need arises for more production.
[edit] Technology Partnerships
The company has roped in Infineon Technologies as a technology partner and licensed its 130 nm technology[1]. HSMC will manufacture Infineon's chips for cell phones, smart cards and automotive segment for the Indian market. Infineon has not bought equity in HSMC.
