Hinano
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hinano is a brand of beer brewed by Brasserie de Tahiti since 1955. The 5% ABV lager is Tahiti's most popular beer, and its logo depicting an archetypal vahine (native female islander) is one of the French territory's most widespread images.
Hinano is brewed in the vicinity of Papeete, the local capital.[1] The brand has historically been the official sponsor of area surfing competitions and pirogue races, but that has changed in recent years due to changes in French alcohol advertising laws.[2]
In Tahiti, the beer is served in official logo-bearing glassware in everywhere from roadside Chinese food stands to upscale hotel dining rooms.
Hinano is available in France and, increasingly, Hawaii and California.[3] There is also a range of beach-friendly clothing featuring the brand's lovely mascot.[4]
In addition to making Hinano, Brasserie de Tahiti holds the local licenses to bottle beverages like Coca-Cola and Orangina.
