[edit] This Picture
I've personally verified this picture as coming from the service record of Heinrich Himmler since I looked at his record in 2003 as part of a journal article I was writing. I have copies of it and was told by personnel at the NARA building in College Park that it is a free and public image. It was also taken in 1926, making it 81 years old bringing into question if any other agency could still copyright to it. There seems to be a very heated effort to get this picture taken off Wikipedia; I don't understand why since its a very good picture (and a rare one) showing Himmler in an early SS uniform and could be used in several articles. Thanks. -195.229.236.215 07:53, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hey stupid, its a copyright image. NARA attach a disclaimer to images whos copyright status they are unsure of. [1] Naturally in your orgasmic rush to publication you not only ignored that warning, but the warning I provided on this talkpage. Hows it feel to be that ignorant? - If you keep up the personal attacks you will be reported, by the way, Ullstein Bild is a stock photography agency and they sell copies of public domain and old images just like Getty images and Corbis, it doesn't always mean they own the copyright - they don't even name who the photographer was for this photo, so how can they claim rights to the image? And anyway the German government agreed to invalidate copyright claims to works seized by the US government [2] Bleh999 03:19, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

- yeh whatever. What would you call removing copyvio warnings marked- "Do not edit this media until an administrator has resolved this issue"? Vandalism? [3] [4] I prefer old fashioned terms like 'ignorance'. Situation regarding ullstein and wikipedia is that wikipedia do not knowingly host ullstein images. This is as a result of legal threats previously made. No doubt you are a highly paid copyright lawyer, and the entire NARA story really does check out, but I think that wiki might want to err on the side of caution until you can establish that ullstein do not hold rights to the image. Good luck with that. Dee Mac Con Uladh 12:10, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

The verification address for this image is: National Archives at College Park, 8601 Adelphi Road College Park, MD 20740-6001. Also, uncalled for up above with the personal attacks and statements about lawyers. Neither of those have any place on Wikipedia. -71.11.149.144 15:35, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
