Template talk:Hillsborough County Schools

[edit] private/public
A list of private schools really doesn't belong on a template entitled "Hillsborough County Public Schools". Either the name should be changed or the those schools should be moved to their own category. Any suggestions? Zeng8r (talk) 03:47, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
Much better. :) Zeng8r (talk) 12:44, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] school sizes
Also, the number of students in various schools doesn't belong on the template. Mentioning the numbers in the individual school articles is adequate, imo. I'll remove in a couple days unless somebody has another idea. --Zeng8r (talk) 03:50, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
- It is arranged by size. You could arrange it alphabetically, but this makes it more interesting.--JEF (talk) 04:03, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
The problem is that these numbers are extremely fluid. If some kid left the Wharton district yesterday morning, for example, the template technically should have to be updated to reflect the change... until a family moves in later in the afternoon, necessitating another update. Even if you just change the stats yearly, somebody has to remember to look them all up and actually fix the numbers.
Templates like this are just supposed to direct users to related articles. Adding stats isn't necessary, especially stats that aren't static. Just my opinion... Zeng8r (talk) 12:44, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
- These stats do reflect approximate size (not exact size) thus helping user and editors to zero in on important articles. The numbers here should be added to schools without enrollment figures on their pages since not all do. In the mean time this should stay as is. We can decide on the arrangement later. For now the figure are up to date with the sources being used.--JEF (talk) 04:41, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
- Here are the first schools listed at the top of the template:
Gaither High School - 2,790 students · Henry B. Plant High School - 2,711 students · Paul R. Wharton High School - 2,612 students
- Those are not "approximate stats", and neither are a majority of the enrollment counts mentioned for other schools that list one. Actually, my mother-in-law works in the King HS ("2182 students") registrar's office and I'll see her today. If that number is accurate as of Monday, I'll own both you fine folks a Cuban sandwich.
