In Florida, The chief law enforcement officer of a county is the Sheriff, who is an elected official. The State attorney is also an elected official. The State Attorney may be cover a circuit that includes more than one county. The responsibly Of the state attorney is to prosecute before the court on behalf of the state, not to enforce laws.
