[edit] Sunbeam and Talbot Sunbeam, Lotus Sunbeam.

This paragraph is a confusing mess, if someone would like to tidy it up: "In 1977, a hatchback variant was spawned, the Chrysler Sunbeam or known as the the Talbot Sunbeam Lotus, which was based on a shortened version of the Avenger's floorplan, with a Lotus 2 litre 907 engine in the first 50 or so cars, then the Lotus 911 2.2 litre twin cam 16 valve. This was intended to compete in the lower "supermini" class, and later became a successful rally car, after it was treated to an engine transplant courtesy of Lotus." Very true; I've made some changes to the structure so the Sunbeam gets a sub-section, improved the wording (I hope) and broken the Lotus stuff up so it fits in with the timeline and the Talbot name. We could really do with a photo of a Sunbeam - anyone got one? – Kieran T (talk | contribs) 13:45, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
I've added a photo sent to me with permission from one of the owners clubs. – Kieran T (talk | contribs) 23:50, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] New Avenger Tiger section

This has been copied en masse from http://www.asoc.co.uk/cars.htm — just checking, but was copyright permission obtained? ;) It's also perhaps a bit long? – Kieran T (talk | contribs) 16:20, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

Since I was adding the photo (above), I've trimmed this considerably. Hopefully retaining the facts but removing the prose which was labelled as copyright. – Kieran T (talk | contribs) 23:51, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Life on Mars

The unmarked police car in Life on Mars is infact a Morris Marina-GeorgeFormby1

However a Hillman Avenger was blown up in the Life on Mars series. Colin99 20:39, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Potential merger

Is there really a strong justification for giving the North American branding (Plymouth Cricket) its own page? A lot of the information here is duplicated (and thus out-of-synch). The Cricket could be a sub-section of this page, just as the South American versions of the car already are. – Kieran T (talk) 16:53, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Right, a few weeks passed with no comments so I've moved in the unique content from that page. I believe that page works better anyway as a disambig page since it also refers to a rebadged Dodge Colt of later years.
The downside is that this article is becoming a bit messy, with sections on international versions (Cricket and Polara), the Tiger and the Sunbeam seeming to interrupt the flow which is vaguely chronological. I've tweaked it in what seems a sensible way, putting "motorsport" to the end as is common with other articles, and will hopefully help the reader. The separation of Tiger and Avenger sporting heritage is uncomfortable though. – Kieran T (talk) 13:25, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Badged as Dodge Avenger in the '70s.

I can clearly remember in the late 1970s in Jamaica seeing at least one Avenger badged as a "Dodge Avenger" and hearing the car referred to, interchangeably, as a "Hillman Avenger" or a "Dodge Avenger". Is there any documentation of this? Was the car called "Dodge Avenger" in any RHD export markets? Respectfully, SamBlob (talk) 18:31, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
