"Under the Bridge" wasn't written about Hillel Slovak, "No Chump love sucker" and "Skinny Sweaty man" altough about Hillel, they where written while he was still alive! infact he played guitar on both songs. as a result I'll remove the Under the Bridge refrernce and rephrase the two otehr songs.
Hillel Slovak, if memory serves, did not die in a hotel room. He died in his apartment. Therefore the link to the list of people who died in hotel rooms is inappropriate. He died in front of the Viper room
lmao at- , but Gary thought Anthony would make a good vocalist because of his bad ass style and partymaniac attitude, --12.165.201.146 19:21, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Israeli musicians?
"Slovak and Gene Simmons are the only Israeli-born musicians who became famous in the popular music market."
I strongly doubt that statement (at the least, it's too definite) but I don't know much about popular music, so I'm not going to remove it myself. --Leapfrog314 00:13, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] npov
The following are examples of items that need to be fixed to make this article more npov
- "It was seen as a wise career move..." in the Early Years section;
- "because of his bad ass style...", "Unfortunately, What Is This? had also...", and "...was competent but lacked the soul Hillel put into everything he did" in Red Hot Chili Peppers section;
- "Unfortunately, along with Anthony...", "He slowly descended into a drug-induced hell", and "his body could take no more" in the Downfall section

[edit] 'Under The Bridge'
this song was not about hillel at all if you have read Anthony Kiedis's book 'Scar tissue' you would know that the song was written about the times when he was involved with the mexican drug trade and he would go on binges with them under a bridge in downtown L.A.
[edit] picture
can someone add a decent pic? i would but i dont know how to.
- This picture http://www.slovakopedia.com/h/hillel.jpg was previously on the article, but was removed because copyright cannot be verified. Also I hate copyright. --Mattarata 16:08, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Hero Worship
The bit in the article where is says that "Frusciante based a lot of his playing style on Slovak's work. Before Frusciante even joined the band he hero-worshipped Slovak and learned the electric guitar parts from the first three albums released by the band." This is true as I watched a documentary on the Red Hot Chili Peppers on MTV about 9 years ago and this was mentioned there. I've no idea what the documentary was called though. It was broadcast just after the RHCP had released One Hot Minute.
[edit] 'Me & My Friends'
Hillel is referenced in this song pretty heavily, shouldn't it be mentioned?
[edit] death
at the top of this page in the second paragraph it says "He died in front of the Viper room" im pretty sure this claim is completely incorrect and it has been confused witht he death of another of anthony kiedis's good friend/mentors 'Rivers Pheonix'. please correct me if i am wrong.
[edit] Main picture
I'm changing the main picture of Hillel, you can hardly see his face in the current picture.Defunct Lies 18:25, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
