[edit] History
The Hilton Garden Inn brand began in the late 1980s under the name CrestHil by Hilton. Due to a slow real estate phase, only 4 of 25 proposed hotels were built. Of these four original hotels, only two are still part of the chain today. They are located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and Valencia, California. The other two hotels, located in Southfield, Michigan and Buffalo Grove, Illinois are now (respectively) a Hilton and a Wyndham Garden Hotel. The brand was reintroduced in 1996 as Hilton Garden Inn and has grown from four hotels to over 300 properties in around ten years. Hilton Garden Inn is due to open its first hotel in the UK in Luton early 2008.
