Hillel Academy of Ottawa is a school located in Ottawa, Ontario that provides early childhood education through grade 8 general and Judaic studies.[1] Rabbi Dr. Jeremiah Unterman is the school's Director of Education.[2]

The Maze is a series of corridors located in the basement of the school. Rumour has it that a poltergeist lives in the basement and only appears during indoor recess. On occasion, the poltergeist answers to the name Quinto, the former four-fingered janitor.

[edit] Jewish Festivals
To celebrate the Jewish holidays, staff and parent volunteers serve the students traditional Jewish foods. For Hanukkah, students are treated to an assortments of jelly doughnuts courtesy of the Rideau Bakery. For Passover, matzah is prepared onsite in a traditional Jewish kitchen. For Shavuot, students are treated to Israeli music and dance, along with ice cream served in dixie cups with wooden spoons.

To welcome the new month according to the Hebrew calendar, students have a celebratory lunch of steamed Kosher hot dogs, potato chips, and juice. This tradition dates back to the days of Rabbi Jose the Galilean.
