Hildegrim of Châlons

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hildegrim[1] (c. 750-827) was a Benedictine, bishop of Châlons-sur-Marne from 804, and brother of Liudger. He is also traditionally given as the first bishop of Halberstadt, a position now discounted by scholars[2]; he is known to have been active in spreading Christianity into the region of the diocese, as a mission. He was abbot at Werden-Helmstadt from 809[3].

He is a Catholic and Orthodox[4] saint, remembered on July 19[5].
