[edit] Background Story
Since Soulcalibur IV has not been released yet, not much is known about this new character. It is known that Hilde is the daughter of the king of Wolfkrone, a fictional European kingdom.[1]Her full name is derived from Old German words hild and gard, meaning war and protection, respectively.
For a long time the Wolfkrone Kingdom has come under the threat of the menacing Ostrheinsburg Castle. After the Evil Seed robbed her father of his sanity, Hilde took up the responsibility of leading the country, completely dedicated to guarding its people. Quickly proving herself, Hilde always led her country's army from the front of the battle lines against Nightmare. As a desperate measure, Hilde seeks the Sword of Resurrection, Soulcalibur, to bring back an ancient king who once restored peace to the world. [2]
[edit] Appearance
Hilde wears silver armor with a wolf motif and wields a short sword and a red spear with a banner attached to it. Their names, Grenzennova and Frischhimmel, mean "new border" and "fresh sky" in German. Her fighting style, Große Erbschaft, means "great inheritance." [3]
[edit] Development
Director Katsutoshi Sasaki describes Hilde as "the 'most alluring'" female character in Soulcalibur IV, because she is "a brave and noble warrior who fights with cunning grace, using a short sword for quick attacks and a spear to do some serious damage from afar."[4]
