Talk:Hiking (sailing)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
As far as I know hiking in this sense is only an American English useage. In the UK I have only ever heard it called 'leaning out' or 'sitting out'. Although I have sailed in the UK over 38 years the first I heard the term was on the film Stuart Little! Billlion 21:07, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Hmm, you may be right - I started this page, I'm American, and in typical USian form, I assumed everyone called it what I did... In my defense, a little googling finds "hiking" apparently used in an Australian context... But do feel free to put in the missing terminology, both here and as a redirect.
