Which definition of high speed is being used? I've seen definitions varying between 200 km/h and 250 km/h. Willkm 23:46, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
- The speed needed to constitute ‘high speed’ on a local level certainly varies depending on what’s already around in the area — I know some places even call 160 km/h high speed — but I wouldn't include anything short of at least 250 km/h. David Arthur 18:19, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
- I'd concur with this. The Swiss ICN (SBB), with a maximum speed of 200 km/h is quoted on the High-speed rail page; however, no one would call it a high-speed train in Switzerland. 250 km/h seems to be a better threshold. Don't know if another criteria, such as the need for special tracks, etc, could also be a requirement for a train to be considered high-speed. Schutz 22:21, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
- I'd like to suggest two more criteria for inclusion on this template: first, that the links must be only to specific models of train, not to general technologies, and second, that only trains which are actually in operation be included, not ones which are merely proposed or being developed. - Yes, there are already problems with TGV and Eurostar/Thalys, both of which are covered in the TGV article. Willkm 20:07, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
- Although both Eurostar and Thalys also have their own, more detailed (at least for Eurostar), article, and may still deserve to be in the template. Schutz 23:36, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Alfa Pendular
Why is Alfa Pendular included in this navibox? Is just one version of Pendolino, that is already included. Is there any reason why not delete it ? --Jklamo 14:08, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
- Then what is the rationale on keeping Acela Express, Treno Alta Velocità, and many of the others? These are names for services, just like Alfa Pendular. They are not types of trains. --Nelson Ricardo 19:02, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

- Yes, system mean unique track or unique rolling stocks for me. Pendolino is running in many countries under different tradenames. I think is better to include Pendolino only than all its tradenames. --Jklamo 21:11, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
