Where do these statistics come from? --nixie 01:14, 23 Jan 2005 (UTC)
This page needs a total redo. The statistics are all over the place. The same town will have 10 3 differnt average income levels look at greenwich CT. Also why the hell are people counting condominium complexes as TOWNS?!?!?!?!?!
- Indeed. But it appears most of the work was done by IP users so we may never know. Cburnett 07:43, 1 Feb 2005 (UTC)

- I'm going to stick a verification notice on the page, if theres no response mabye it should go to VfD. --nixie 04:37, 2 Feb 2005 (UTC)

- I see 205.188.116.67 updated the pages to include sources at the bottom. Though it narrows the possibilities down, it's not specific. What to do? Cburnett 05:36, 2 Feb 2005 (UTC)

The numbers don't jibe with the numbers on all of our county articles. If we keep this, somebody (or a bot) would need to update all of them. RickK 05:45, Feb 2, 2005 (UTC)
Looking at 3 random counties under Richest places in the United States#100 Richest Counties by Per Capita Income:
All three match up to the dollar. Cburnett 05:57, 2 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Whoops, my bad. I was comparing median with average. :) RickK 06:15, Feb 2, 2005 (UTC)
The numbers for the cities should be verified as well, but if they are all from the 2000 census, then the following needs to be added: "As of the U.S. Census[1] of 2000...". BlankVerse ∅ 05:59, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)
The first table states that the per capita income for Oconomowac, Wisconsin is $81,593. The article for Oconomowac says "The per capita income for the city was $25,716." I believe the article, not the table. There are wealthier places in the Milwaukee metro area such as Delafield, Brookfield, and Mequon. RRouse 21:11, Apr 30, 2006
I see Grosse Pointe Shores as number 8 on the highest with 1,000 households but nowhere on the highest with population 1,000. But it belongs at number 13. Is there a reason why it is not there?
- The per capita income for Grosse Pointe Shores in the 2000 census is incorrect in this list. Census tables [1] list the per capita income as $69,639 not $100,213 as stated in this list. older ≠ wiser 23:33, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
Can someone make a list of places with at least 25,000 people? Or at least tell me where the data for these other lists comes from, so I can do it myself? Thanks.
I also see Grosse Pointe Shores as having been excluded. The most updated wikipedia information about GPS is that it has a 113,858 median income.
- There are currently only three median income charts, one for places with median over $200,000, one for places with more than 10,000 people, one for places with more than 50,000 people. Grosse Point Shores does not meet the criteria for any of those categories. In addition it was incorrectly placed at 8th on the "places with over 1,000 households" per capita income chart (it is actually 78th according to 2000 Census per capita income), which I have corrected.
- In the process I also noticed that Grosse Point Farms was incorrectly represented on the same list (probably put there in place of Grosse Point Shores originally), which I plan on deleting in the future, after I go back into the history and find a new 100th ranked place.Lakester10 09:24, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Anaheim Hills / Rockville Edit
An IP user had a question about why I removed Anaheim Hills from the list. The reason for this removal is that the place cannot be found in the 2000 Census, which nearly all (all?) of the data in this article is currently derived from. This data can be obtained from [2] -- click on a state, then from the cities pulldown menu select "Other places not listed," then type in the place in question. Because the Census does not regard Anaheim Hills as either its own entity or a "Census Designated Place," it has no data that can be compared with the rest of the data in this article. In addition, I could not find the figures elsewhere on the internet, after a brief search.
If you believe Anaheim Hills should be listed on this table, please provide 1. what source you are getting its data from 2. why this source is directly comparable to the 2000 Census.
The other changed entry, Rockville, was merely a correction to the proper figures according to the Census (it was changed arbitrarily to some higher number)
In addition, I have modified the bottom segment listing sources of data to reflect the fact that virtually all data comes from the 2000 Census, as can be checked with the above link. That listing of sources dates back to 2005, when the article looked dramatically different from its current form. In the modern article, I have not found places that derived their data from other sources (deviations tend to be obvious vandalism, in my experience) Lakester10 23:17, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] New Edit
According to the newer 2006 census bureau Yorba Linda had the highest per capita income of just over $121,000 for a population over 50,000. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wikiman8531212 (talk • contribs) 23:38, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
