[edit] Minimum buyin

Right now the article says that the minimum buyin is $50k. As far as I know, you have to buy in for at least $100k, and should you happen to go broke, you can then rebuy for $50k minimum. I'm not sure, perhaps someone can check this out.

When do new episodes of this program hit the air? So far as I can discern, there is only one new episode per week, Monday at 9 PM EST, but it seems from other comments that I have been missing out on some episodes. -Abscissa 17:19, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

I tried to find a broadcasting schedule on the GSN www-pages, but no success. I didn't spend a lot of time on it, however. An overview of the programs, listing the participants for each show, would have made a nice addition to the article, by the way. Mortene 10:09, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

are there some other peeps out there who suspect that these players are being paid per flop (vs. per hour)... maybe it is my suspicious mind, because of what bob stupack was doing last season... - Abscissa 02:14, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

I thought Stupack didn't even play one hand, so how exactly would that prove that they're paying them per flop? If they were paying them per flop, everyone would be limping in all the time. Drew88 17:43, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, that's what I meant, -- they paid per hour in the first season and Bob Stupack played one hand -- AA and the rest of the time he was walking around. In S2 it seems there were a lot more players per flop though, more than what i would expect. -Abscissa 18:23, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

I didn't know you were referring to the new season. Many commented on the sub-par poker playing, but I still haven't watched the new episode. Still, I doubt they're paying them per flop, that would really damage the game. Drew88 08:15, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

Or it could make it more interesting... nobody wants to have someone who waits for AA, KK all the time like Stupack who only played one hand.... plus we should remember all the hands are editied for TV, not necessarily played in order, etc. I don't think it was just me, there were more players per flop on average than one would normally expect... From What Daniel says in his post (linked in the article) about the payment, they were only paid for sitting at the table - I didn't see season one, but if he was walking around, I assume someone else was at the table and he wasn't walking around during hands he was in. Is there a reason plays have piles of chips but also piles of cash on the table besides as a reminder to the audience that they are using real cash? And what is the basis for the players betting in chips vs. throwing a brick of cash in besides just whatever they feel like bettering. TheHYPO 07:03, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

  • I think it's just what you said- to remind people that, yes, this is real money these millionaires are betting with. I highly doubt it makes a difference whether they threw in chips or cash, though I'm sure it was much easier to throw out a $50,000 brick of cash than count out that many chips. -- Kicking222 01:48, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

that the taping of the 4th season of HSP has been postponed indefinitely and may even be cancelled. Can anyone verify this and update the page?

Don't believe everything you see on a web board. This May 16, 2007 Las Vegas Sun story describes the taping of the fourth season and says a September debut is scheduled. Casey Abell 17:18, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 2 more cards after the River shown

Why are there 2 more cards shown after the river? I saw now at least 2-3 games, where 2 other cards followed flop, turn, river. But why? Would be interessting to add in the article, I didnt found the answer @ the homepage with the original rules.

I think you're referring to the players occasionally running the hand twice. Especially if there's a huge amount of money at risk and the odds are pretty even, sometimes the remaining players in the hand will run the turn and river twice. If the players each win once, the pot is split. If one player wins both times, he takes the entire pot. Casey Abell 22:42, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
