Highway 9 (Jerusalem)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

For the highway planned near Hadera, see Highway 9 (Israel).

Highway 9 in Jerusalem is a bypass road on the north of the city. It connects the entrance to the city from the west via Highway 1 at Moza interchange to the eastern continuation of Highway 1 at Sha'ar HaMizrah interchange. The formal name of this road is Rehov Soreq and Yigal Yadin Boulevard.

Before the highway was built, travelers from west of Jerusalem who wished to reach the Dead Sea, or vice versa, had no better option than to drive through congested city streets. The road is intended to improve traffic flow in Ramot Alon and nearby neighborhoods.
