Highway 125 is Ontario's northernmost Kings Highway. The road is just 13 km long, but travels from its terminus at Highway 105 in Red Lake, Ontario to the ferry docks in Cochenour, Ontario, which serve the town of McKenzie Island, Ontario. The only provincially-controlled highway that travels further north is the secondary Highway 599 to Pickle Lake and Central Patricia. The road was paved in its entirety by 1963.

Beyond Cochenour and Balmertown, unmaintained forestry roads travel northwards to Pikangikum, Ontario, and link to winter/ice roads that service communities even further north.
