Highlands-Baywood Park is a quite wealthy census-designated place (CDP) in San Mateo County, California, United States. The population was 4,210 at the 2000 census.

Highlands-Baywood Park is located at 37°31′30″N, 122°20′36″W (37.524893, -122.343299)[1].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.8 square miles (4.7 km²). None of it is covered by water.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 4,210 people, 1,536 households, and 1,216 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 2,340.1 people per square mile (903.1/km²). There were 1,548 housing units at an average density of 860.4/sq mi (332.0/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 70.55% White, 1.43% African American, 0.38% Native American, 20.26% Asian, 0.24% Pacific Islander, 2.23% from other races, and 4.92% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.94% of the population.

There were 1,536 households out of which 30.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.7% were married couples living together, 6.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.8% were non-families. 15.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.63 and the average family size was 2.92.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 24.3% under the age of 18, 4.7% from 18 to 24, 24.0% from 25 to 44, 30.1% from 45 to 64, and 16.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females there were 101.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.9 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $105,165, and the median income for a family was $119,184. Males had a median income of $85,035 versus $57,813 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $46,584. About 1.0% of families and 2.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 2.7% of those under age 18 and 3.6% of those age 65 or over.

In the state legislature Highlands-Baywood Park is located in the 8th Senate District, represented by Democrat Leland Yee, and in the 19th Assembly District, represented by Democrat Gene Mullin. Federally, Highlands-Baywood Park is located in California's 12th congressional district, which has a Cook PVI of D +22[3] and is currently vacant with the recent death of Democrat Tom Lantos.
