The High Sheriff of North Yorkshire is a current High Sheriff title which has existed since 1974.[1] Traditionally the entire area of Yorkshire was covered by the High Sheriff of Yorkshire, but after the controversial Local Government Act 1972 the commission decided to switch the 1000 year old title to smaller covered areas. This included North Yorkshire and its sheriff title. Below is a list of the sheriffs.[1]
