Higashiyama Station (東山駅, Higashiyama-eki?) is a railway station on the Hakodate Main Line of Hokkaido Railway Company located in Mori, Hokkaidō, Japan.
According to the timetable of August 2007, the station was served by four northbound and four southbound trains per day. Many other trains, including a few local trains, pass through the station.[1]
[edit] History
The station began operation as Higashiyama Signal Box (東山信号場, Higashiyama Shingōjō?) on February 26, 1943. On August 1, 1949 it started passenger service as Higashiyama Temporary Station (東山仮乗降場, Higashiyama Kari-jōkōjō?) (a temporary station was a stop set by local JNR office instead of by Tokyo Headquareters). On April 1, 1987, when JNR in Hokkaidō became JR Hokkaido, the temporary station was promoted to a full station as Higashiyama Station.[2]
