Higashiazai District, Shiga

Higashiazai District (東浅井郡 Higashiazai-gun?) is a district located in Shiga Prefecture, Japan.
From the reports of 2005 Census, the district has an estimated population of 14,509. The total area is 38.53km².
There are two towns in the district.

- April 1, 1971-The village of Biwa gained town status.
- February 13, 2006-The towns of Azai and Biwa merged with the city of Nagahama to create the city of Nagahama.

- The remaining two towns denied to merge with all four towns from Ika District.
