Hideki Takahashi

Hideki Takahashi (高橋英樹 Takahashi Hideki, 1944 – ) is a Japanese actor. Born in Kisarazu, Chiba near Tokyo, he attended Ichikawa Gakuen and later Nihon University.

He made his debut with Nikkatsu and acted in youth-oriented films. After becoming a star in television jidaigeki, he turned out hit after hit. His jidaigeki roles included

He played Oda Nobunaga in the 1973 NHK Taiga dorama Kunitori Monogatari, and Shimazu Hisamitsu in another Taiga dorama, the 1990 Tobu ga Gotoku, as well as Mori Suemitsu in Hōjō Tokimune (2001) and Fujiwara no Hidehira in Yoshitsune (2005). He played Tokugawa Ieyasu and his double in Kagemusha Tokugawa Ieyasu (1998).

Modern roles are also in his repertoire. Among these is Detective Totsukawa in the Nishimura Kyōtarō Travel Mystery series. Takahashi is also active as a personality in quiz shows, exemplified by Quiz Nihonjin no Shitsumon (NHK, 1993–2003). He has also appeard as a judge for Iron Chef.
