[edit] Plot introduction
Hidden Talents is about a teen that is sent to Edgeview, a school that is for kids who can't learn in their original schools. Martin Anderson soon finds out that the reason he and his friends have been sent to Edgeview can;t be prevented, unless they learn their "hidden" talents.
[edit] Characters
- Martin Anderson
The novel is written in Martin's point of view. He has the ability of Empathy. He knows what can make people angry, but he also knows what makes people happy. He was sent to Edgeview because he totally knocks people out of their socks by talking back. Martin has more faith in all the other's psychic abilities than his own. Martin is awesome when it comes to solving problems. Kidding people around is his hobby. He's tough for a kid that's really short.
- Torchie (Philip) Grieg
Torchie is Martin's roommate in Edgeview. He has Pyrokinesis, which means he can start fires with his mind. Torchie was sent to Edgeview because he obviously kept on burning stuff. He started a bunch of fires in the story before knowing that he had this psychic ability. His power gave him his nickname. Torchie "Torches" stuff. :)
- Cheater (Dennis) Woo
Cheater is a brain geek. He has Telepathy. He can read minds. Cheater is short and skinny, and he likes karate chopping. He discovered his ability when he asked the science teacher if they could do a mind reading experiment so he could tick off Martin. But when he got a zero on every single test (very smart), Martin realized it was impossible to get zeros on every one, so that Cheater ticked himself off. Cheater got his nickname because he always had the same thing on his tests that other people had, so the teachers ans students assumed he was a "cheater". He can never keep his mouth shut and is always bumping into trouble. He is Chinese.
- Flinch (Willis) Dobbs
Flinch is the third friend Martin meets. Flinch has Precognition. He has the ability to see into the future. Not a lot, but definitly into the future. If dodgeball ever became an olympic sport, he'd be going for the gold. Flinch likes to joke around and make people laugh. Flinch was sent to Edgeview because he was jumpy and distracting. One time, Martin purposely spilled milk on Flinch, but before it happened, Flinch jumped out of the path of the milk. He is African American.
- Lucky (Dominic) Calibrizi
Lucky is is the fourth friend Martin meets. He has the ability of Echolocation. That means he can find lost objects by just hearing the object calling him. He's not sure if the voice is by the imprint of the object or the imprint left by the owner. He was sent to Edgeview because when he picked up lost wallet and licensces, they thought he was a thief. He has a collection of golf balls, tennis balls, money, and other stuff he found under his bed and everywhere. If he does not pick the object up, it's gets louder and louder and drives him crazy. He is Italian.
- Trash (Eddie) Thalmeyer
Martin met Trash when he was dumped by his friends and had no one to sit with at lunch. Trash used to be the school loner. He has the ability of Telekinesis. He can move objects with his mind. Trash was sent to Edgeview because he kept breaking everything down when he got angry. During lunch he reached across the table to get a fork and made the fork levitate quickly across the table without even touching it.
- Bloodbath
Bloodbath is the school bully. He's emotional and likes to hurt other people, both the insides and outsides. He hates it when people laugh at him. He tried to close the school while Martin and his friends used their psychic powers to stop him. Throughout the whole story his behavior is very aggressive with the other students in school, especially Martin and his friends.
