Hidalgoa ternata is a hemi-epiphytic vine common in montane cloud forests in Costa Rica. It is easily distinguished by its deep orange flowers and ternate leaves.

When boiled for approximately 15 minutes, sliced, and pureed, this plant is said to have the ability to ward off certain types of cancer, particularly that of the liver[citation needed].
