{{Indefinite}}--Jersey Devil 19:58, 10 May 2007 (UTC) {unblock reviewed|I have no idea why you've blocked me. I'm Howard Cannon, inventor of the Flavors object-oriented programming system and co-founder of Symbolics. I'm someone who could make real, significant contributions to this database. I signed up in order to correct an article about someone I know. No matter, I can see I'm not wanted here, so I'll go away.|decline=Since it looks like you don't actually want to be unblocked, I'm removing the unblock request. If you want to be unblocked, email me. What you did wrong is actually something that happens by mistake to lots of beginning users. If you look at the deletion debate you commented in, you'll notice that lots of users seem to have created accounts in order to vote for keeping the article, but that kind of thing just confuses the deletion process. See WP:SOCK for an explanation. If you want to come back and make edits in other areas, I'd be happy to unblock you. Mangojuicetalk 17:41, 14 May 2007 (UTC)}} {unblock|You referred me to this reference: "A sock puppet is an additional username used by a Wikipedian who already has one or more accounts." So, are you saying you think I'm an additional user name and NOT who I claim to be? If I am a sock puppet, why would you agree to unblock me at all? If I'm not a sock puppet, why is my participation in the Egendorf delete debate wrong? Are you saying that you will only unblock me if I don't support the inclusion of the Egendorf article? Are other legitimate users arbitrarily constrained in this way? What articles would I be allowed to edit or comment on?}}
- You still are not stating whether you wish to be unblocked or not. Sure, it should be taken as implied since you are using the unblock request template, but you could make it a little more clear. I believe Mangojuice was stating that you were mistakenly caught up in the sockpuppet mess and that s/he is willing to assume good faith by lifting the block. You might, however, wish to take a look at WP:Conflict of interest if you intend to make edits to Flavors (computer science). - auburnpilot talk 18:56, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

- While I find this whole thing rather amusing -- my point is that I did not ask to be BLOCKED and feel it would be only right for you folks to admit your error and unblock me. I happen to know for a fact that there were NO, NADA, ZILCH, ZERO sockpuppets in the whole Egendorf debate. Alas, you deleted a useful article and did a disservice to your community. I also find it amusing that you almost seem to want people to not edit articles about which they have direct and intimate knowledge. That seems totally counter to one of the real values of a tool like this -- the ability to have articles about things edited by people who were actually there! Hicannon 19:37, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

- Just out of blatant curiosity, since you find this all amusing, how do you "know for a fact that there were NO, NADA, ZILCH, ZERO sockpuppets in the whole Egendorf debate."? - auburnpilot talk 20:10, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

- Well, I know that I'm not a sockpuppet, and, I recognized the other user ID's as being related to people that I either know of directly or indirectly who know Egendorf (all of whom you should be proud to welcome to Wikipedia.) In any case, please excuse my hyperbole -- while my belief is strong, I clearly overstated it. At this point I feel I've made my case and don't wish to pursue it further. - Thanks to Mango for the un-block and the cogent off-line explanation of the situation. Hicannon 21:19, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
