[edit] Student Body

Hickory Ridge's enrollment of approximately 1,000 comes from areas that were previously in the school districts of Jay M. Robinson High School and Central Cabarrus High School. Robinson contributed approximately 200 students, and Central contributed about 800.

The student body currently consists of students in grades 9-11, as rising seniors were not moved from Robinson and Central Cabarrus.

[edit] Campus

Architects took the design of Jay M. Robinson High School and found more economical means of design. Instead of two central courtyards and a quarter-mile long hallway, there are four wings branching off of the main part of the building. The rest of Hickory Ridge is a scaled-down version of Jay M. Robinson with smaller hallways and classrooms. There are 3 main parking lots for parking. The bus lot is the one closest to the main road in front of the school. The teacher/student lot is in front of the school behind the bus lot. The biggest parking lot is to the west of the student/teacher lot. It is hidden behind a hill so the student cars will not be seen by passer byes on the road. (All directions from the view of Hickory Ridge Road)

The campus is 106 acres in size includes the school facility and athletic facilities.

The large open area next to HRHS has been scoped out for the building of a new Middle School. The two schools will share the athletic complex and possibly a few areas of the school. The school system is doing this so they can save money and put the savings into school equipment.

[edit] Athletics

Hickory Ridge's athletic teams are known as the "Ragin' Bulls". The school is a member of the South Piedmont 3A Athletic Conference.

The Hickory Ridge Marching Band, or the "Blue Regiment," won grand champion in their first competition, earning the school's first trophies.

The Hickory Ridge Varsity Men's soccer team made it to the first round of the state championships in 2007.[citation needed]

Hickory Ridge Little Boys Baseball won its first game in school history on March 5th 2008 against rival Sun Valley High school.
