Hi's Eye

Hi's Eye is the student run weekly newspaper at Westfield High School located in Westfield in Union County, New Jersey. Hi's Eye is New Jersey's only weekly uncensored student newspaper, and one of the few uncensored school publications in the entire country.[1]
Hi's Eye has an editorial staff of Journalism 3 seniors and is free from administrative prior review. The paper was established in 1935. Its slogan is "If it's Friday, and there's school, there'll be Hi's Eye." The paper publishes 33 issues per year with a monthly Arts and Entertainment insert called Iris. Hi's Eye is unique among many student run newspapers in that it is a weekly, and that it is completely self-funded.

Hi's Eye has won numerous awards from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association, American Scholastic Press Association, National Scholastic Press Association, and the New Jersey American Civil Liberties Union.

The newspaper's advisors are Ms. Rosemary DiBattista and Ms. Jennifer Roman.[citation needed]
The newspaper's tri-editors for the 2007-2008 school year are Vince FitzPatrick, Marissa Mumford, and Jessica Sheft-Ason. The Iris Editor-in-Chief is Caitlin Burke.[citation needed]
This year's news editors are Katherine Roberts, Peter Griesmer, and Britta Greene. They represent themselves with cool combinations of text and pics, articles and briefs. The opinion editors are Kelsi Browning, Pratik Mehta, and Neil FitzPatrick. The sports editors are Claire Bennett, Rose Driscoll, and Brian Gibbons.[citation needed]
