[edit] GA assessment – on hold

Thank you for nominating this article as one that may meet the Good Article Criteria. As you will see I have put the article on hold at this time. My comments are as follows:

To be absolutely honest – whilst the article was a pleasant enough read it was on the cusp of failing outright due to not meeting the first of the Good Article Criteria. However there was some hope that with dedicated re-writing according to the following points the article might yet pass. On that basis I have put in on hold for now. As is always the case the system allows 2 – 7 days to finalise such requests – but in some cases a couple of extra days can be granted. Please let me know directly if you need that extra time.

I normally also suggest that as each adjustment is made, that editors place the template {{done}} after each part that is completed as this will provide all editors with a guide of what is completed in this fashion.Y Done

  1. I note the dab link at the top of the page that says (This article is about the Ralph Bakshi film. For the Hank Williams song, see Hey Good Lookin' (song). For the film's soundtrack album, see Hey Good Lookin' (soundtrack)) and I believe this article should be renamed to Hey Good Lookin’ (film).
  2. Whilst it is peripheral to this article reaching GA status once the article is renamed I think an editor should go the two disambiguated pages and put similar disambiguations to the above on the page.
  3. These two sentences in the lead are separated by the conjunction AND – (His girl, Roz, thinks Vinnie is the most wonderful thing on two legs. And his friend, Crazy Shapiro, would die for the honor of Vinnie and the gang.) and should be rewritten
  4. Both of the concepts success and cult following in the lead sentence (The film was not a box office success, but has since gained a cult following.) are unreferenced and need to be so as not to breach WP:V guidelines/policy.
  5. Wiki-link where possible the following – making sure they go to an exactly appropriate link (or change the words to remove the jargon laden words where not possible – see Wikipedia:Explain jargon, or alter the prose so that all people with reasonable English comprehension can understand what is being said): hairstyle; loudmouthed freak; financing; moniker; hang out; roughhouse; voluptuous; girl-down-the-block; mobsters; rumble; tough; corner the car; pier; hallucinations; memorial; clichés; live-action
  6. Comma is not required in the sentence (Meanwhile, Roz has been chained to her bed by her father so she won't be tempted to "do anything.")
  7. Remove the repetition of the phrase: (and have sex with their girls) by saying what you want to in another way.
  8. This sentence needs rewriting for flow and style (Elsewhere on the beach, Vinnie meets up with Roz and the girl Crazy's dating, fat Eva (Jesse Welles).)
  9. Choose either (the Stompers) or (The Stompers) throughout the article. Similarly for (the Chaplains).
  10. Remove the second person pro-noun in this sentence (We see him fight against his own hallucinations—including garbage can monsters and giant, naked women.)
  11. This request for change has been completed - detail has been removed by assessor so as to remove possibility of spoiling the ending for people who have not yet seen the film.--VS talk 11:24, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
  12. Inline citations are required for both of these sentences (In recent years, the film has become a cult classic. A soundtrack album was released in 2006.)

If you fix all of the above suggestions within seven days and let me know I will review it again and it may pass at that time. I am not promising however because the way it is fixed (given the issues under Criteria 1) will affect the decision one way or another. Please let me know on my talk page when you finish or if you have any questions. Cheers --VS talk 07:48, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
