Heywood C.C.

Heywood Cricket Club, based in Heywood, in the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, Greater Manchester, are an English cricket team currently playing in the Central Lancashire League.

Situated off Aspinall Street and bordering Queens Park Heywood Cricket Club whose main sponsors are currently Biwater Treatment Ltd in Heywood. The club are one of the founder clubs of the Central Lancashire League and have been in existence since before 1897.

As a part of the Central Lancashire League the club has had much success over the years in various cup competitions most notably over the last five years they have won the Wood Cup four out of the five finals they have been in.

They have engaged many a famous name as cricket professional including current England Batting Coach, Andy Flower, West Indies Spin Bowler Curltey Ambrose and last years professional was Sherwin Campbell.

The current President of the club is Mr Robert Cross who owns a local insurance brokers and has been a first team captain and record wicket taker at the club. Current Chairman is David Fare who has also been involved with the club since the 1970s and is still playing cricket to this day. Club Coach is Bob Dearden who was voted coach of the year recently (February 2008) at the boroughs sports awards and has experience of playing and coaching at Derbyshire and Lancashire and is a former Central Lancashire League Chairman and a life member of the league and the club.

The club boasts a strong youth side fielding teams in the under 11, 13, 15 and 18 categories. It also fields a third eleven, second and first eleven.
