Thanks

Thank you for the kind words. :) IrishGuy talk 01:23, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Replied on your talk page. Keep up the good work. :-) Hersfold (talk/work) 01:32, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Re: Help me

There's a misunderstanding here, I guess. It is for Wikipedia. The Website I am looking for was hosted by Dhaka Electric Supply Authority (an extremely unfriendly and bureaucratic government agency, not a fit place to look for a lost website). But, it had useful content on history of electric supply in Dhaka, which was particularly useful for the Shahbag article I have put to peer review now (and getting ready for FAC as well). I know there is a way of sorting out dead links, but being technologically handicapped and all, I need help on that, very hands on help. Please answer to my talk page. Thanks. Aditya Kabir 13:58, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Ah, ok. Sorry, then, replying on your talk. Hersfold (talk/work) 14:40, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
Thank you very much, especially for the understanding. Cheers. Just one more tiny li'll irrelevant question - what is that "我是喜悦的, 我能帮助。请告诉我如果您有任何其它问题。" thing on top of this talk page? Looks like something nice. (answer to my talk page again?) Aditya Kabir 15:01, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Uhh... It's not appearing on my screen. I have a talk page header that's transcluded on here, but all the code appears to be working properly.... Hersfold (talk/work) 15:20, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Heh, genius me was looking too high. Those are Chinese characters, see more detailed comment on your talk. Hersfold (talk/work) 15:27, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Have a smile, then. I wish I had some Chinese language in me. Jealous, very much. Cheers. It was nice meeting you. Aditya Kabir 15:37, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Help!

Okay, it didn't work. Probably human error on my part. I need a box around Image removed, as it was fair use Trogdor and Wikizilla approve of your hard work!

and Image removed, as it was fair use Congrats! Godzilla and Wikizilla are proud of your work/accomplishments! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Oomtc (talk • contribs).

Ehh... I'd love to help, but we cannot use the images you provided. Those images are on Wikipedia under a fair use rationale, meaning they can only be used in very specific circumstances on the articles directly referring to those topics. As such, they are strictly forbidden anywhere else, particularly on user pages. If you have a different image that is in the public domain or uses an approved free license, then that would be acceptable.
I will work on the code and let you know when I've got something. Any color preference? Hersfold (talk/work) 21:34, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Wikify/Hyperlink

Clicking the hyperlink button places [[Link title]] brackets in the text. First hightlight a word or words with your mouse then click the hyperlink button. Or replace "Link title" with the name of the article you want the link to point to. BuickCenturyDriver (Honk, contribs, odometer) 21:46, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
Replied on Buick's talk page. Hersfold (talk/work) 21:53, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
This was directed to Smosey (talk · contribs), but now that I told you, you will understand what he was talking about. BuickCenturyDriver (Honk, contribs, odometer) 21:49, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
Ok. Thanks, that's what I thought he was referring to. I included both codes just in case, because neither is really labeled "hyperlink". Hersfold (talk/work) 21:53, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

thank you

for having a sense of humor. you're the master of sarcasm, you should be able to read what i really mean.

that phrase that my U.S Government teacher coined doesn't reference Anna Nicole Smith. It references the media's incompetence and how they focused all their attention on her death and her kid and all that b.s instead of important events such as treason against the U.S and the various serial killers we aren't being warned about. So thank you for being uptight. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Neilhirsch (talkcontribs) 22:03, 4 April 2007 (UTC). Neilhirsch 22:03, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

That doesn't change the nature of the page, nor the fact that it didn't belong on Wikipedia. Please see our policies on what Wikipedia is not, notability, and our Criteria for Speedy Deletion, which your page clearly met.
You're welcome. Hersfold (talk/work) 22:11, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Sexuality in Judaism

I don't think so Brett. Deleting the article was a very stupid thing to do and next time you should discuss the deletion before instantly deleting it and sending me a "last warning", which was also pretty dumb. The article contained citations from the Talmud and it seems the Talmud encourages pedophilia and sodomy among other sick sins. Emбargo 15:44, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

I took a look at your talk page before actually issuing the final warning, and it seemed you have a history of vandalism and trolling. This page seemed to fit right along with that trend. Even if the Talmud does contain those quotes (which I seriously doubt), there is no reason whatsoever to go posting about it on Wikipedia from an obviously biased point of view with the apparent intent to attack Jewish people. I was not the one who deleted the page, anyway - I'm not an administrator. So clearly I'm not the only one to see your contribution as harassment. (Reason for deletion was listed as: "POV fork, wp:npov, arguably g10 attack") Please review our policies at WP:NPOV, WP:CSD, and WP:CIVIL before creating more pages. My images for wikipedia

Thank you for your answer in WP:HD.

I'd like to release my images with attribution. In Italian Wikipedia I write this: http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immagine:Blu-point.jpg Which is the English version? I'd like to use the same here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Blu-point.jpg

Thank you. Claudia

No problem! The code for that template here should be {{cc-by-nc}}, but unfortunately the English Wikipedia does not allow that license for various reasons. I think the closest acceptable thing to that license would be {{cc-by-sa}}, which applies a "share-alike" disclaimer to the standard license. If that's not what you'd like to use, try looking through our other free license tags. Sorry for the trouble. Hersfold (talk/work) 19:34, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your answer, but now my images are removed in Birman article, I want give my images with license { { cc-by-sa } }

English version of Wikipedia is different from Italian version, can you help me to recover the old version of Birman with my images and with license? I don't know how to do, and I have some difficult understand English explication in Wikipedia.

My images are:

Thank you.

Claudia - 18 April 2007

Ok. There is a slight problem. After looking at those images, it looks like you have taken them from an Italian website, http://www.sacrodibirmania.com. You need to determine which license that website has issued their photos under and obtain permission to use them on the English Wikipedia. Permissions from another Wikipedia may not carry over to this one. Applying a license of your own without the owner's permission violates their copyright ownerships. I'm sorry for misunderstanding earlier, I thought these were pictures you had taken yourself.
You probably will want to review our official image use and copyright policies, as well as our steps to request permission for copyrighted images. From what you've said and what I can see there, I think the steps involved are similar to the Italian Wikipedia - we just have to repeat the process here so that the permission is on record for both languages.
I'm sorry I've confused things for you - unfortunately, copyrights are one of the most difficult things we have to deal with here. Hersfold (talk/work) 00:14, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
Above copied to Claudiabirmani's talk page
Thank you for your answer, in Italian version the steps consist to write an e-mail. Where may I read a similar page and what'is the e-mail address? P.S. http://www.sacrodibirmania.com is my web-site, and the images are my photographies.
Claudia - 20 April 2007
A similar page exists at WP:COPYREQ. If the site is your own, then this should be rather simple - we just need an email to confirm that claim. Send an email to "permissions-en@wikimedia.org" stating that you are the owner of the website and you are licensing the images under a cc-by-sa license. Once you do that, someone will add a tag to your images confirming that they are ok to use. When that happens, you should be able to reload the to the article. Let me know if there are still problems. :-) Hersfold (talk/work) 16:28, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

Medical calculators

Thankyou for your contribution in trying to get unwanted pages cleared up; but Medical calculators is not nonsense. Also, it does not mention or name any makers or sellers of medical kit, so it is not easily classifiable as {{dp-spam}}. I have removed the speedy-delete and somewhat wikified it. I recommend reading Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion. Anthony Appleyard 07:37, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

Ok, thanks. I made a mistake, which I apologize for. Next time you do warn someone about this, could you take a quick look at their contributions rather than treating them as a newbie straight off? I frequently do newpage patrols and generally label up to 20 inappropriate pages each day. Thanks. Hersfold (talk/work) 15:16, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

MOTD

Thank you for supporting my motto. Harrison-HB4026 23:56, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Sure! I just wish more people figured out that they "can do it"! You wouldn't believe the number of people at the Help Desk we get every day whining about an error that they can easily fix themselves. Hersfold (talk/work) 01:14, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks 2

Thanks for helping me. I think my edits were mostly solid (the edits on Absolution and Reynolds weren't mine, though, I was logged in the entire time). I noticed that the ISBNs were messed up and was hoping to find someone who knew what the proper ones should be, as well as if I correctly interpreted the use of the "followed by" field in the book infobox on the side...

Thanks again for the help, mr_flea 04:17, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Your change to "Followed by" made sense to me. By looking at the Documentation for the infobox, they clearly meant for that to be used for a series of books, not the author's complete bibliography. As for the ISBN, it says here that an X can be used as the last digit if some ridiculously complicated mathematical formula comes out to equal 10. So the ISBN's you used should be valid. If not, someone will eventually notice and change them, it's no big deal. Hersfold (talk/work) 14:32, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

It does these 6 things:

Question: [1]

  1. Image:Bouton_Vandale0.png = {{subst:revert|Insert article here}} ~~~~
  2. Image:Bouton_Vandale1.png = {{subst:uw-vandal1|Insert article here}} ~~~~
  3. Image:Bouton_Vandale2.png = {{subst:uw-vandal2|Insert article here}} ~~~~
  4. Image:Bouton_Vandale3.png = {{subst:uw-vandal3|Insert article here}} ~~~~
  5. Image:Bouton_Vandale4.png = {{subst:uw-vandal4|Insert article here}} ~~~~
  6. Image:WP-icon.png = {{subst:w-link|heading=true}}

I hope that explains it all. Regards,  Razorclaw  22:55, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

COOL! Thanks very much! I will certainly be using that script! Hersfold (talk/work) 00:59, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the love ;O)

No problem on the revert. If memory serves me right, the edit summary which caught my eye on RC was a bit of a giveaway ;O) Flowerpotman talk|wot I've done 00:42, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

I thank you for supporting my motto. CheersKfc1864 05:47, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

No problem, anytime. Just where did you get the idea for that, though? Hersfold (talk/work) 21:57, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
I dunno. I just Thunkit up . No influences except for EE.Kfc1864 06:43, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

Regarding "recent changes" (from 71.129.201.81)

I had not realized that removing "Corey call me back" from the top of the "purple" page would be a problem or significant enough to require an edit summary. My apologies....

PS: Is there a reason for the lack of a simple, obvious reply mechanism for messages like the one I received? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.129.201.81 (talkcontribs).

Question

Could you please put //[[User:Razorclaw/extraeditbuttons.js]] in your monobook so I can keep track of all who are using my script? Also I've recently changed the templates so you will have to press ctlr + shift + r to start using the different ones. If you wan't me to change them back just let me know. Regards, --«razorclaw» 22:50, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

I've added that code as you requested, but unfortunately I do not see the extra buttons anymore. Are you sure the changes you made are working properly, or would this be a problem on my end? I'm using a new computer now, but all the programs involved should be the same. Hersfold (talk/work) 03:37, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
Actually it's an issue on my end. Put [[]] on it. Make it a link. Its just to keep track of who's using it. Regards, «razorclaw» 15:16, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
Done, sorry about that. Hersfold (talk/work) 21:38, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you for your swift help. Wolf of Fenric 03:24, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Glad to be of service! Let me know if you ever require further assistance.

Hersfold (talk/work) 21:38, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

ctlr + shift + r

Do it again. I undid what I did. Now the buttons should work. Cheers, «razorclaw» 15:20, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Aha! It works again. Many thanks. Hersfold (talk/work) 21:38, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
