[edit] Macintosh

Hi HTH. I pinged a reviewer regarding Macintosh today, who posted some comments at Wikipedia:Featured article review/Macintosh. If you can meet those concerns, I'll be willing to keep it. Cheers, Marskell (talk) 20:37, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

I'll work on it over the next few days.--HereToHelp 21:17, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Big Thanks Bobisbob (talk) 01:40, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

No prob.--HereToHelp (talk to me) 02:12, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Could you re-upload this [2] too? It has the same problem. I think it would fit good in the buttocks atricle. When I put it on the page this appears instead

Thanks again. Bobisbob (talk) 02:27, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

It's me again. How do I tell is a pic in in the public domain? I want to use one of the zebra pictures on this page. I highly doubt the person owns the photos but she could have licensed them. Can I upload one anyway and if it is copyrighted let the admins delete it? Bobisbob (talk) 20:56, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Hey, I just got the premission from the copyright holder to use this photo Do I go ahead and upload it and credit him? Bobisbob (talk) 00:45, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] orca pic

Hey I have been trying to upload this pic. It's has been used around the web for several years with no rights claimed to it. I can't find anything in the licensing slot to match it. Bobisbob (talk) 15:51, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

But the pic is in the PD. What isn't there a choice for pics that lost their copyright recently? Bobisbob (talk) 01:31, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Do you known how I can cut out the frame in this pic? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bobisbob (talkcontribs) 20:49, 11 February 2008 (UTC) I don't know how to to the first suggestion. Bobisbob (talk) 01:43, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Template:Help contents contents

A tag has been placed on Template:Help contents contents requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes.

Thanks. --MZMcBride (talk) 06:36, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Imamacimapc.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Imamacimapc.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 23:45, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] In Re: IWoz

Please add citations for the article IWoz. See article for more details. Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. This is especially important when dealing with biographies of living people, but applies to all Wikipedia articles. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. [edit] Senate Guards

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Senate Guards, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Senate Guards. [edit] New MOSNUM policy to address more than just binary prefixes

Since you voted on a proposal to no longer routinely use the IEC prefixes (kibibytes & KiB), I thought you’d be interested to know that the best we could muster at this time is a more general principal here on MOSNUM. I’m sorry I couldn’t deliver anything better at the moment. However, I hope you will agree that it speaks to the basic principal underlying that whole debate. [edit] Stephanie Adams Article

Hello, there seems to be a lot of animosity and bitterness by users who have been editing the article on Stephanie Adams, even on the discussion page. Can you please step in and stop people from making personal attacks against the subject matter? This woman obviously does not know anyone of them personally and her article should no longer be edited by people who clearly have some sort of gripe against her. If they do not like her, then perhaps they should write about someone else. 71.167.226.96 (talk) 09:05, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

When considering this request from 71.167.226.96 please be aware that she has referred to other editors as "sicko", "retard", "idiot", "flunky" and peppers her contributions with "You took your hand off your little thing between your legs long enough to type" and other such comments. (Her contribution to Talk:Stephanie Adams at [3].) So, yes, there does seem to be an inappropriate amount of animosity and personal attacks from people who have some sort of gripe. But let's be clear on who is actually the source. -- Sean Martin (talk) 18:10, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

First of all, I am a "he", not a "she". Second, I never left comments like that and am starting to wonder if you are mentally all there. Sean Martin, stop obsessing over Stephanie Adams (as well as me, because you have followed all of my comments on other pages) and stop leaving personal attacks about her on her discussion page just because she sued your friend and beat him. Miss Adams does not know you and will never want to know you. End of story. 71.167.226.96 (talk) 23:09, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Sean's comment about incivility seems to be reflected in the anon's comments themselves. (You say that you've "never left comments like" that and then immediately accuse him of not being "mentally all there"? Remember: the first person to make a personal attack alway loses.) Considering that I am unfamiliar with the subject or debate, I will not directly intervene. Rather, I urge all of you to be civil, follow NPOV, and try to work this one out on your own. If that fails, try an RfC.--HereToHelp (talk to me) 23:16, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
"I never left comments like that" Just follow the link I provided. If not you then someone coming thru the exact same IP address and clearly you should look much closer to home when admonishing folks to stop personal attacks. (Any confusion, if it exists, could be easily alleviated if you got a named Wiki account. Avoiding anonymity would also help credibility.) "stop leaving personal attacks about her on her discussion page" Please provide even one example. "she sued your friend and beat him" You can keep saying that, but it will remain untrue. She has threatened and harassed, but not sued any friends of mine. Assuming her suit against James Poling is what you are referring to, again, I've never met him, never spoken to him, do not know him personally, am not friends with him.
If you want me to stop posting, stop leaving postings containing falsehoods about me. I will continue to respond to any postings you or anyone makes that do. I'll stop the moment you do. Up to you. -- Sean Martin (talk) 01:06, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
This guy "Sean Martin" thinks everyone he is in contact with is Stephanie Adams because obviously he is obsessed with her. Personally I think he should be banned from editing on Wikipedia. If you take a look at his comments on the Stephanie Adams discussion page, accusing everyone of being Stephanie Adams, you will see that something is not all there. I know I have a temper and I will curb that, as Wikipedia should be a source for people that are editing objectively. But when people like him step in and insult perfect strangers, including the person in the article, they should be dealt with accordingly. Who exactly handles this and how can we get them involved? I may or may not get a chance to come back to this page, but maybe you should contact that person and have them take a look at the discussion page for the article themself. 66.108.4.133 (talk) 23:29, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
I just did, and while it looks like there's been some agitation on both sides, it's particularly difficult to figure out what anonymous comments belong to whom. Was it really the same person who posted here? What i can tell is that most of the heavier stuff comes from the anons, but that may or may not be you. So, EVERYBODY, chill down.--HereToHelp (talk to me) 00:08, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Always have been chilled. But, as noted above, I will reply to any posting made containing falsehoods about me.
By all means, as the anonymous poster suggests, look at the discussion page and review every posting I've ever made and you won't be able to provide any example of where I've insulted anyone. Now, review the postings from 66.108.4.133 or 71.167.226.96 (or any of the other host of anonymous posters whos IPs all originate from Verizon NYC) and you may be hard pressed to find a posting that doesn't. -- Sean Martin (talk) 01:06, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Sean has offered to let the issue drop. ("I will continue to respond to any postings you or anyone makes that do. I'll stop the moment you do. Up to you.") So, anon, please do.--HereToHelp (talk to me) 01:57, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Straw poll vote on binary prefixes

I note that you voted on a proposed MOSNUM policy for Wikipedia to use the common binary prefixes like “kilobit” rather than the IEC prefixes (“kibibit”). Since you took an interest in the issue at that time, I thought it proper to let you know that the proposal has since morphed into a broader policy (MOSNUM #Follow current literature). A straw poll on whether the basic principle underlying that policy is sound is currently ongoing here at Talk MOSNUM #Straw poll. I hope you read the policy and vote as you see fit. Hope to see you there. Greg L (talk) 21:56, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image:OSMK membership badge.svg

I do appreciate your time and energy in making this image, but I am sorry, it's not even a close match to the original, the bird is not at all like the version on the national flag, the fleur-de-lis is a borrowed shape from the Scouting WikiProject and the shapes are actually unique per country, and the black outer border is unnecessary if the image is crisp enough. Perhaps you would be kind enough to try again, and show me for inspection before you change the image in the articles? Thanks so much! Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 06:19, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

When I get a chance, sure. (I could have lifted the bird from the national flag and saved all that energy trying to figure out what the heck it was supposed to look like?)--HereToHelp (talk to me) 01:35, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks! The Kazakhstan emblem is much better, but you're gonna hate me-the stars need to be equidistant, the emblem itself should be symmetrical with an equilateral border, the emblem should actually look more like the flag on the same article, the eagle is really that one, I have the badge but it is 6142 miles away. [edit] Missing image Image:Personal computer, exploded 6.svg

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Personal computer, exploded 6.svg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Personal computer, exploded 6.svg is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Personal computer, exploded 6.svg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. [edit] Protection of 3G iPhone

I strongly disagree with your protection of 3G iPhone. I am unsure of how it is in compliance with our protection policy? I would rather not unprotect it personally and kindly ask that you do and allow the community to reach consensus on this currently breaking event. Thanks. Chrislk02 Chris Kreider 19:20, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

I want to have time for a consensus to emerge. Besides, Apple seems to be using iPhone 3G, not 3G iPhone. I believe that having two articles will cause much of the basic information to be duplicated, causing redundancy and confusion. A "Versions" header in iPhone with subsections for 2G and 3G is more appropriate. (I will be pasting this response in other places, too.)--HereToHelp (talk to me) 19:24, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
THe principle behind your protection seems faulty. Protection is not to prevent potential problems, it is to cease current problems. If edit warring becomes a massive problem, then it should be protected to prevent edit warring, not protected to prevent creation when there is no consensus against creation. Chrislk02 Chris Kreider 19:28, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
Its not that I agree or disagree on any merits of having or not having separate articles. I just feel process is important (I am clearly not rogue enough, lol). Thanks for unprotecting it. Chrislk02 Chris Kreider 19:33, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:16, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
