Talk:HeroCraft

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Could please anyone tell me why there is a warning about article HeroCraft being unencyclopaedic and going to be delete? Can this status be removed?

Thank you in advance. Haseth (talk) 10:48, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

The main problem is probably notability. See Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). Articles about companies that only reference the company web-site are generally considered fair game for deletion. WhaleyTim (talk) 11:08, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Can please anyone explain what is so "promotional" and "unreliable" about this article? All these facts can be easily verified! Or maybe please tell me what to remove/change/fix/add? Haseth (talk) 10:05, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

'Promotional' - It is not written in neutral language. Writing things like "Our primary aim" etc makes it read like a press release for the company, rather than an encyclopedia entry about the company. The two things are very different. Wikipedians as a rule are very suspicious of any apparant attempt by a company to use Wikipedia as marketing tool
'Unreliable' - No sources are cited apart from the company's own web-site - If it is 'Easily Verifiable' then include independent sources from which the facts can be verified WhaleyTim (talk) 11:06, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
All right, thank you! Now it makes sense. I'll edit the article and let you know when I'm done so you could check it, if you do not mind. Haseth (talk) 12:02, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
As User talk:WhaleyTim said. Please keep in mind that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a marketing device. The text in the article contains phrases like "occupies one of the leading positions on the world market for mobile phones games" and "our experience in sales and promotion of games makes us an excellent partner" sounds very much like promotional material, texts like this needs to change. Also, it's generally not a good idea to write an article on the company you work for (which I assume you do since you use words like "we" and "our" a lot), more is explained in Conflict of interests. And when linking phrases in your article, please check where the links actually lead, I removed a lot of links that lead to disambiguation pages or to an article that was irrelevant. I've googled a bit and get lots of hits on the company so I'm removing the {{notability}} tag I placed. - TexMurphy (talk) 12:11, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

All right, I hope it's more suitable now, could you please check? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Haseth (talkcontribs) 12:22, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Sorry for the unsigned comment, that was me.

Haseth (talk) 12:26, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Better, but you need to lose "We publish under both our original IP, and with branded licenses", and you must add independent references to establish notability in order to avoid deletion. WhaleyTim (talk) 12:54, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Independant references as in external sources which approve this information?

Fixed the "we" part and added a link to the external source

I would also just like to add a couple of words of warning. Haseth if you are an employee of HeroCraft I hope that you have permission from the management of the company to write about it on a public forum - people have been fired for this. If you are an employee and you do have permission remember that anyone, including your competitors, disgruntled ex-employees, upset customers (which I'm sure you do not have) can edit this page, putting information that may not be in the best interest of the company.WhaleyTim (talk) 13:35, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for a warning, yes I am employee of HeroCraft indeed. I am a PR manager and I have both permission and task to make this article so it's all right, and I hope that noone just spoils this article out of boredom.

Have you read User:Jmabel/PR? WhaleyTim (talk) 14:00, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I have. Honestly, I suppose that like 80% of articles about companies are made by these companies employees. I am trying to give just objective information which is by all means verifyable... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Haseth (talkcontribs) 14:10, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
