Herbert Douglas deserves mention as a photographer of Raj India; His alleged connection to the Notovitch affair was something of an open secret to his Paris friends, but is undocumented. The evidence is circumstantial but heavy. It is hard to imagine 2 unrelated Archibald Douglases in north India at the time; and were an expedition to Tibet have been mounted H., a cultured atheletic man on a career track would likely have been included. The Tibetan Handbook shows rough use; but of all his library only it found its way into his public legacy at the Janus. The interview he published in the 19th century magazine is anything but academic. Why the psuedonymKlasovsky 18:06, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
