Talk:Herb Greenberg
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Need more in Herb's biography section, no details on year born, place born, family background, or anything non-career wise other than college degree and current hometown. Anyone got more sourced info? Piperdown 01:23, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] SEC subpoena
I've given that the more neutral section heading "SEC subpoena." The SEC subpoena section comprises half of this bio. While important, and I won't cut it back for the moment, I am concerned that it might be undue weight in the bio of a living person, particularly since the subpoenas were never enforced and are now moot.--Mantanmoreland 23:12, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
makes sense, other than the CNBC bio and Marketwatch blog, it's the only "notable" mention from a RS so far I've found. Too bad his SF Chronicle work predates the web. Also if some of his commentary on notable business scandals could be included, at least ones that he might have been instrumental in bringing to light (I think there were a couple in the late 90s-early 00s. Suggestion on further editing: removing all mention to Gradient analytics in the text, and the reference link. Since Herb wasn't the target, that the target was cleared isn't necessary to Greenberg's story. That the subpoenas were retracted/not enforced/whatever is the relevant detail in regards to Greenberg (and the SEC comments on them already included). If Greenberg's mentioned in the added reference about Gradient, then keep it and use anything it details about Herb. Just some thoughts. Piperdown 23:25, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
- No, I think you really have to name the target, and once you do that you have to say that it was cleared. That also is necessary to indicate that the subpoena is moot and not just on hold. That is why I didn't cut the section, as it really requires that detail. Right now the section is balanced and fair, just a bit long. Since this is a notable journalist, it should not be hard to flesh out other aspects of his life. I did remove a long sentence in the middle, on precisely what was subpoenaed, as that did not seem necessary. --Mantanmoreland 14:00, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
