HERO (also known as HERO the movie) is a film based on the 2001 popular TV series of the same name.

Casting of this movie, with the original casts from the TV series, includes the new casts from the special drama, which aired in 2006. Additionally, father of Takako Matsu, Koshiro Matsumoto, is also casted, as well as a special guest from Korea, Lee Byung-Hun.

This was the first time Takuya Kimura appeared in a film with a Korean actor. Both Kimura and Lee Byung-Hun will once again, appear in the in a 2008 film, I Come with the Rain.

This movie mainly portraits the events that occurs in the courtroom, which was rarely done in the TV series.

The region-2 DVD (Korean subtitles version also available) was released on March 8, 2008 by Pony Canyon.
